Join a highly-regarded Community based hospital - Level II Trauma Center as an MRI Technologist - OUTPATIENT DAYS- Full-Time Equivalent (FTE)
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 am - 4 : 00 pm
As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized imaging procedures. Your duties will involve preparing patients for examinations, assisting radiologists when necessary, operating and maintaining equipment, and adhering to established care standards.
Additionally, you will pursue continuing education opportunities to stay updated in your field and assume responsibility for your assigned areas and tasks.
Ensuring excellent customer service is an essential part of this role. Other responsibilities may include quality assurance activities.
Your professional judgment will be crucial in carrying out procedures effectively and providing patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors
- Properly prepare and position patients for specific examinations, while following different protocols and documenting images and body part questionnaires
- Take ownership of designated areas and / or procedures, producing high-quality technical images and reviewing completed scans for accuracy
- Assist physicians during procedures, as needed
- Perform quality assurance activities and calibrations, as required
- Be available to work during emergency procedures or departmental situations
- Maintain cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories, promptly reporting any malfunction to the MRI supervisor
- Print patient CDs, when necessary
- Manage routine office duties, including answering phones, checking previous reports / films, documenting patient information, and utilizing EMR and PACS systems
- Notify front desk staff upon completion of an exam
- Show images to radiologists and communicate reports to attending physicians, documenting any necessary communication (STAT readings)
- May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
- Introduce yourself and educate each patient or family member about the ordered examination
- Provide knowledgeable and skillful care based on the age, physical, and psychosocial characteristics of different patient populations (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric)
- Attend staff meetings and in-services
- Perform any other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements :
- Graduation from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program is required
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) is mandatory for technologists, with ARMRIT becoming ARRT MR certified within one year of hire date
- Continuing education requirements must be met to comply with standards set by governing bodies, which currently involve 24 ECE credits over a two-year period based on the year of birth
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is necessary, or completion is required within 90 days of hire
- IV certification is preferred or should be obtained within a six-month orientation period
- MRI safety certification level 2 is required on a yearly basis
