Group 1

  • INTL 100S Thinking Critically about Globalization
  • INTL 210 Introduction to International Studies

Minimum Qualifications

Degree : Earned . or equivalent in an appropriate field for course and an interest in interdisciplinary teaching. Appropriate fields include International Studies, Global Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Cultural Studies (Anthropology / Sociology / Languages / others), History, and Geography.

Experience : Successful teaching experience and academic or professional work related to international topics within the past five years.

Preferred : Earned ., or ABD; experience teaching interdisciplinary courses; evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Group 2

INTL 220 Introduction to Cultural Studies

Minimum Qualifications

Degree : Earned . or equivalent in an appropriate field for course and an interest in interdisciplinary teaching. Appropriate fields include Cultural Studies (Anthropology / Geography / Sociology / Languages / others).

Experience : Successful teaching experience and academic or professional work related to international topics within the past five years.

Preferred : Earned ., or ABD; experience teaching interdisciplinary courses; evidence of teaching effectiveness.

INTL 410 Global Issues Analysis

Minimum Qualifications

Degree : Earned . or equivalent in an appropriate field for course and an interest in interdisciplinary teaching. Appropriate fields include Cultural Studies (Anthropology / Geography / Sociology / Languages / others).

Experience : Successful teaching experience and academic or professional work related to international topics within the past five years.

INTL 490 International Studies Capstone

Minimum Qualifications

Degree : Earned . or equivalent and an interest in interdisciplinary teaching.

Experience : Successful teaching experience and academic or professional work related to international topics within the past five years.

Preferred : Earned ., or ABD; experience teaching interdisciplinary courses; evidence of teaching effectiveness; broad understanding of international studies major curriculum.

Position Type : Lecturer

Availability : As needed

First Review Date : Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged.

Salary : Dependent on qualifications and experience.

The full-time (15 weighted teaching units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules below are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six (6) monthly payments for each full semester.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges :

$4,530 - $6,056

$5,405 - $11,994

$6,190 - $13,172

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range.

Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the traditional homelands of the Wiyot people in what is currently called Arcata, CA. The Wiyot people call the area Goudi'ni (over in the woods).

The Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Northern California is in close proximity to several thriving Native American tribes and communities.

Humboldt currently has the largest percentage of Native American students in the CSU system and has over 30 Native American faculty and staff, many from local area California Indian tribes.

Cal Poly Humboldt is home to a number of leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP).

There are also many opportunities at Humboldt to conduct research, teaching and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections at the Cal Poly Humboldt library.

The Humboldt Room in the Library has fantastic resources for tribally focused archive materials from the region. Humboldt strives to build a supportive and inclusive Native community and engages with Native communities through initiatives and opportunities like the annual California Indian Big Time, Indigenous People's Week, and a chance to network with other faculty and staff as part of the Cal Poly Humboldt Council of American Indian Faculty and Staff.
