Registered Nurse - Levine Children's Hospital 3K Behavioral/Medical Observation Unit FT Days

Overview

3K Medical Observation : 3K is a 22-bed observation unit. Our patients are here for a variety of behavioral health reasons requiring hospitalization.

On 3K we do cohort most of the children at Levine Children's Hospital with a mental / behavioral health diagnosis. However, because we are a medical observation unit, we can also care for patients with a 1-2 day stay in the hospital.

Majority of these diagnosis include IV hydration, rule out sepsis, ortho observation, and surgical observation.

Our staff is very passionate about caring for children and teens with behavioral health needs. We have a diverse group of nurses with backgrounds in Adult and Pediatric Nursing, Behavioral Health, and Med / Surg nursing, to name a few.

We are all CPI trained and certified. We have championed the Disruptive Patient Star Program at LCH to address the safety issues related to this population.

In addition to the nursing staff on 3K, we have psychiatric technicians to help care for our behavioral health population.

Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates.

Registered Nurses at Atrium Health have the ability to grow in their profession through the Clinical Nurse Credentialing Pathway (CNCP).

Levine Children's Hospital is also Charlotte's only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, staffed by doctors trained in pediatric emergency medicine.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies procedures, and / or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader.

Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

Must speak English in good, understandable terms. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.

Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and / or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing required.

Education, Experience and Certifications.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support required per policy guidelines. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or;
• if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state;

or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
