Director of Childrens Ministry
Ministry Mission & Values : Our childrens ministry serves families with children in 5th grade and younger by introducing children to Jesus, planting the seed of Gods Word into their hearts, modeling the love of Jesus through a team of caring volunteers, and nurturing and shepherding them into a lasting relationship with God.
Principal Functions : The Director of Childrens Ministry oversees all programing for children from birth to 5th grade, assists in creating and implementing faith formation opportunities for young parents, directs and organizes volunteers in Childrens Ministry programs, and collaborates with the family ministry team to serve families in the church.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position which is exempt from overtime pay. The regular schedule is Sunday through Thursday with flexibility required for evening and weekend commitments.

Qualifications for the Position :
Passion and love for serving children and seeing them grow in their faith
Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
Self-driven, reliable, and with good interpersonal skills
Capable of recruiting, developing, and encouraging volunteers to grow in their faith through serving our children
Collaborative leader who values working in a team
Knowledge of childhood development and experience designing age-appropriate faith content
Excitement and energy in creating new programs and growing our Childrens Ministry
Commitment to support the mission of The Church of St. John the Divine and the Episcopal Church
Education and Experience Requirements :
Bachelors Degree
At least 3-5 Years experience in Childrens Ministry
Duties include but are not limited to :
Provide direction and vision for Sunday school classes
Oversee all Childrens Ministry staff and volunteers
Be responsible for budget, payroll, Childrens Ministry staff vacations, and administration of the program
Provide leadership for Childrens Ministry special events (for example, First Communion, Jr. Daughters of the King installation, Holy Week, parents night out)
Oversee Vacation Bible School (volunteer recruitment and coordination, program design, curriculum, etc.)
Ensure all staff and volunteers follow Diocesan Safeguarding guidelines
Support, encourage, and raise up new volunteers for Childrens Ministry
Communicate Childrens Ministry programming with parents and families regularly
Design, select, and implement a wide range of Childrens Ministry Curriculum
Provide pastoral leadership to parents and children
Work with parents to encourage and foster ongoing faith formation at home
Work with Family Ministry team to create comprehensive vision for family formation
Assist in leading chapel at church Montessori pre-school, First Steps
Support Sunday worship through serving with modern and traditional worship teams
