Position Summary The Sonographer Educator is responsible for maintaining and enhancing clinical and / or educational competence for diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures.

This position will serve to create, implement, and improve education plans, competencies, and orientation processes for sonography department at Orlando Health Facilities.

Performs diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures and serves as a role model to all personnel by demonstrating a high level of expertise, including but are not limited to trouble shooting skill, effective interactions with patient and staff, leadership ability and professional behavior.

Benefits from day one Paid days off from day one Tuition reimbursement from day one Shift / Status First Shift, FT Responsibilities Provides general and specialty specific education to prepare sonographic imaging staff to be safe, efficient and competent.

Develops and coordinates the orientation process for assigned areas, meets with orientates, preceptors and / or clinicians as needed.

Demonstrates expertise in the sonographer department with technical skills, image acquisition, transferring and archiving of images, trouble shooting skills and expert knowledge of service line specific procedures.

Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates imaging specific programs to maintain or increase the skill / knowledge of the assigned staff.

Performs and assists with the complex studies. Maintains a cohesive working environment in the department while establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with fellow team members and Physicians.

Formulate a plan of care and workflow which will increase the efficiency and organization within the department. Providing the best clinically appropriate care following established protocols for an assigned group of patients.

Assists Imaging leadership with Joint Commission preparation, safety issues and Care Reviews as requested Develops and evaluates all personnel assigned to the department.

Recognizes abnormalities and assures qualified staff is competent in interpreting and reports findings to the physician according to guidelines.

Ensures adult learning principles are integrated into all programs developed internally or presented by external sources.

Performs exams and prepares final reports for interpretation by the Physicians. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Functions as a clinical resource for peers and new team members. Acts as a preceptor for new staff and students. Presenting education to staff in groups or one on one sessions to review new guidelines updates and / or review teaching cases, Collaboration with the supervisor and applicable service line manager in planning and guiding evaluating staff’s skills and competency.

May serve as a liaison and informal consultant to other Orlando Health departments / committees regarding educational efforts as assigned by the Manager Qualifications Education / Training Bachelor’s degree required and graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARMDS) eligibility guidelines.

Within Non-Invasive Cardiology Service Line Education / training as required under established current Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines may be substituted.

Licensure / Certification Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARMDS).

Within Non-Invasive Cardiology Service Line Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARMDS) and / or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and American Heart Associate BLS for Health Care Providers.

Maintain Current BLS / Healthcare Provider Certificate. Experience Five (5) years of clinical experience in sonography with a minimum of 3 years at Orlando Health.
