Construction Manager

As a Construction Manager , you will be a pivotal member of our team, directly contributing to Vessel's mission of revolutionizing the housing industry.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the management of job sites, ensuring that all construction activities are organized and executed efficiently, with a strong focus on quality control, safety, and adherence to schedules.

You will work closely with our project management team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while also managing the day-to-day coordination of trade vendors, safety regulations, and municipal partnerships.

This positon is located on-site near our construction sites around New Haven, CT.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THE ROLE

  • Lead construction efforts on-site, ensuring the smooth daily operation of the project.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project schedules and timelines, focusing on both manufacturing and construction elements of the job.
  • Oversee safety procedures and ensure OSHA compliance on the job site.
  • Manage daily logistics, such as site cleanliness, lockups, and organization of materials.
  • Communicate with city officials and ensure all necessary permits and regulations are followed.
  • Manage labor crews and ensure performance metrics are met (e.g., production of 46 panels / day).
  • Supervise vendor partnerships and ensure they adhere to contract obligations and deliverables.
  • Prepare for the next day's tasks by managing setups, loading trucks, and getting equipment prepped for the team.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent industry experience will be considered).
  • 5+ years of experience in construction or site management, with a strong understanding of both construction and manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage construction schedules, and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of job sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or other project management and scheduling tools.
  • OSHA certification and the ability to operate a forklift.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with city officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities, especially in managing unexpected challenges on-site.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and familiarity with city permits and construction codes.
  • Experience managing data-driven processes and ensuring efficient use of resources to meet production targets.
  • A strong focus on safety and compliance, ensuring that all activities align with regulatory requirements.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Lean Six Sigma certification, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement and industry best practices.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Base salary of $120,000 annually, with additional forms of compensation like equity and bonuses included in the total package.
