Full-time, 0.9 FTE 36 hours / week
Responsibilities :
- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care, with a minimum of assistance.
- To function as primary care leader, associate, or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of Allen Hospital.
- To exercise accountability responsibility, authority, autonomy, and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise.
- Perform pre and / or post-operative critical care for surgical patients.
- Maintains department competencies related to proper care of patients.
- Responsible for managing equipment and responding to emergencies, signaling concerns to Physicians within a timely manner.
Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
- Responsible for sedation administration and recognizing and assessing the need for reversal and airway management.
- Ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes in workflow.
- Able to respond to call as soon as needed, but no later than 30 minutes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintains accurate, up-dated health assessment on patients. Presenting signs / symptoms related to diagnosis.
- Notifies physician of abnormal lab results, x-rays, testing.
- physician with office procedures.
- Administers physician ordered prescriptions with review of patient education.
- Cleans wounds and changes dressing. Monitors patients vital signs as indicated.
- Revision of chart forms to enhance an efficient, organized, thorough chart that supports E / M coding requirements.
- Development, management of outcome studies for disease management.
- Assesses need for health care intervention for walk-in services.
- Prioritizes needs of patients from phone calls. Schedules surgery with review and preparation for patients.
- Making sure the physicians daily schedule flows smoothly. May be asked to perform other duties to facilitate a smooth flow for the clinic.
Qualifications :
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
