JUNIOR ESTIMATOR
The ideal candidate will be responsible foraccurately evaluating project costs and determining thefeasibility of undertaking those projects.
This role requiresfamiliarity with our competitiveadvantages as an organization and the ability to effectivelycommunicate these benefits throughout thebidding process.
Responsibilities :
- Produce cost estimates and proposals forstructural steel bid projects and change orders onawarded projects.
- Developimplement participate in and monitor a plan for completing materialand labor takeoffs from structural and architecturaldesign drawings.
- Takeresponsibility for complex projects and routinely function as theestimate team leader.
- Review and verify the completeness of project drawings andspecifications and distribute them to assignedestimators.
- Maintain and managewelldeveloped subcontractor and supplierrelationships.
- Obtain pricing for specialtyitems not contained in the estimating softwaredatabase.
- Generate estimate summaries and costrecap sheets in Excel.
- Develop preliminaryconnection designs based on member capacities and provided loads.
- Collaboratewith the Production Department to review and update estimatingstandards.
- Work overtime when required to meetbid deadlines.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering ConstructionManagement Architecture or a related technicalfield.
- 3 years of relatedexperience in the steel industry.
- Familiaritywith steel fabrication processes and techniques and advancedknowledge of construction elements (welding andconstructability).
- Ability toread analyze and interpret complex design documents andspecifications.
- Strong time management skillsand the ability to work on multipleprojects
- simultaneously.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Experience withExcel and preliminary connection design.
