Manufacturing Manager

This position reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing. The Manufacturing Manager will be directly responsible for the Filling and Formulation areas of manufacturing.

This includes managing the day-to-day operations including cleaning (Sanitization) of classified areas. This manager will interact directly with maintenance and supply chain functions to assure Leiters Health meets all company goals.

Essential Functions :

Provide strong people leadership with a focus on creating / maintaining a positive work environment through effective communication and accountability.

Manage supervisors who are responsible for aseptic filling, formulation and classified cleaning functions within operations. Management includes :

  • Personnel development & training
  • Performance review, coaching & feedback,
  • Time and Attendance
  • Employee relations & disciplinary action etc.
  • Responsible for leading and supervising manufacturing resources to meet manufacturing schedules and objectives.
  • Coordinate and lead the execution of projects and processes involving the aseptic filling, formulation and classified cleaning functions.

This would include assisting in defining the scope, identifying resources, and scheduling of these projects.

  • Direct liaison between Production, Facilities and Engineering, Validation, Technical Services, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain to schedule, and monitor manufacturing processes, projects, and quality aspects of products and processes.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPI’s) specific to aseptic filling and formulation areas within manufacturing.
  • Identify, initiate, and oversee implementation of continual process improvements for the manufacturing environment.
  • Creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for new equipment / processes, as well as updating of existing SOP’s to reflect current practices.
  • Ensure employee training on SOPs and processes remains current.
  • Ensure all necessary qualifications are maintained and scheduled appropriately.
  • Analyze Production efficiencies related to downtime and waste. Trend and publish outcomes. Lead teams to improve the results.
  • Write and review investigations and CAPA actions for non-conformances in the department. Work with Quality Assurance to quickly resolve any variance or document errors so that product may be released on time.

Lead Problem Solving activities.

Manage staffing levels and budget spending.

Experience and Necessary Skills :

  • 5 years minimum experience in supervising a cGMP FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment; 2 or more years aseptic processing preferred.
  • Knowledge of cGMP guidelines / standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology degree or licensed pharmacist preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma training, Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills including strong presentation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of process equipment, unit operations, process control systems, process hazards and safety. Strong hands-on skills are necessary.
  • Employee must be self-motivated, highly organized, and conscientious. Effective interpersonal skills are required to interface with internal support groups as well as outside contractors / vendors.
  • Must be able to work and make decisions independently as well as with a team. Must be adaptable to change and able to work in a fast paced environment with technically and mentally demanding situations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential, proficient in the use of spreadsheets and word processing programs
