Job Overview
The role of the Engineering Technician I is to provide day-to-day installation support for a variety of structured wiring and telecommunication system installations.
Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing Infrastructure wiring and related communications equipment.? The Engineering Technician I is responsible for the repair and maintenance of cable dressings, cable trays, conduits and making connectors for network cable plants, including category cable and fiber optic cabling.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions :
- Installation and integration of copper and fiber infrastructure in military offices, warehouse and hospital environments.
- Directly support the onsite lead to effectively prioritize and execute daily tasks.
- Terminate data (cat5e, cat6).
- Build pathway and install feeder and fiber in commercial setting.
- Operates vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders, signal level meters, other test equipment.
- Assists other team personnel in the performance of their duties.
- Promotes a team approach and problem-solving environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory :
- Minimum of five years of maintenance, repair, and engineering facility experience related to the specific Activity Management Plan (AMP) responsibilities they are assigned to perform.
- Must be able to identify in the field common site civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire system components, understand how they function and operate, and have experience planning or performing maintenance, improvements, or repairs.
- Must possess applicable building code and life safety knowledge to provide assessment services.
- At least three years of experience working in a military environment and familiarity with Air Force Civil Engineering guidance, rules, and regulations.
- Must have knowledge of construction management software, project closeout procedures, preventive maintenance, construction and repair terminology and processes.
- Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Shall have experience performing facility assessments and Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) condition assessments and have at least one year of experience working with data from geospatial databases.
- Must have basic familiarity with current Air Force Real Property and linear segmentation guidance.
- Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification / common access card.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and / or drug testing required on the contract.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
