General Description
In-Situ Inc. is a leading manufacturer of innovative environmental and process monitoring equipment. In-Situ has a full offering of multiparameter water quality sondes, water level and flow instruments along with automatic chemical analysis systems for water and wastewater monitoring and control.
As a member of In-Situ’s executive team, the Vice President of Marketing will lead our team of talented Marcom, Product Management and Application Development professionals in growing the company’s revenues and market share in our environmental and process instrumentation, data services and solutions business.
Position Summary
In-Situ is accepting applications for the full-time position of Vice President of Marketing to support our growth strategy across our current Environmental and Process product offerings as well as any future product offerings.
The position reports to the President & CEO and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans that align with the overall group strategy.
The areas of responsibility include Global Marcom, Lead Generation, Developing and Maintaining Sales Tools, Product Management and Application Development inclusive of owning the development and execution of the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for both new and current offerings (in collaboration with R&D, commercial and leadership teams).
Responsibilities
- Serve as In-Situ’s portfolio expert and champion within the organization responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue and profitability targets in collaboration with the Sales team.
- Responsible for Product Management and Application Development Managers working together to synthesize market, customer, and sales feedback & intel to define customer and product requirements with associated prioritization.
- Collaboratively with other members of the team and approval of the CEO and Board of Directors, provide new product direction for RD&E efforts and drive flow of new products to meet market requirements, including opportunity assessment, positioning strategy, financial analysis, and tactical plans to support successful product adoption.
- Responsible for cross-functional collaborations (RD&E, Sales, Support, Finance, Quality, and Operations) to ensure successful implementation of product requirements, driving new product development to commercial launch.
- Manage all marketing facets of product commercialization and lifecycle management, inclusive of but not limited to market assessments, global pricing strategies, documentation, sales training, and demand planning.
- Manage Outbound Marketing Team responsible for areas including branding, marcom, campaigns, product launches and segmenting relevant markets.
- Define and execute product and marketing plans including objectives, activities, and KPI’s to establish the Company as a top player in core markets.
- Work cross-functionally to lead the formulation of the group’s strategic plans.
- Determine short- and long-term business development and marketing strategies as the owner of product plans, positioning, and pricing.
- Identify and execute plans for penetration of attractive new markets with core technologies.
- Identify opportunities for new technologies and markets that are complementary to core competencies and markets.
- Develop and maintain a competitive applications effort to provide customers and distribution organizations with proof of product performance, competitive comparisons, etc.
- Establish and maintain a lead generation effort to cost-effectively generate sufficient leads to support sales revenue targets.
- Create marketing collateral for relevant specific markets, campaign elements, and sales tools to convey the value proposition to target markets, support the sales process and the organization’s tradeshow / conference strategy.
- Manage product obsolescence plans and strategies in close cooperation with operations, engineering, and the aftermarket business unit.
- Help identify and pursue key acquisitions to complement existing activities, leverage manufacturing and / or distribution capability, and grow the Company.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Track record of successfully defining product roadmaps and launching new products.
- Proven track record of developing consistently strong performing marketing, product management and application development teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement both strategic and tactical plans.
- Results oriented, with the ability to multitask, work at a high standard, perform consistently under pressure along with pre-determined deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and communicate clearly and concisely with a broad array of both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, and dynamic environment Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation skills.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree required.
- Minimum of 3+ years in a director-level position or higher, VP experience preferred with demonstrated ability in team building and delivering growth, preferably within the analytical instrumentation field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of Product Management experience required.
- M&A due diligence and integration preferred.
- Experience working at the highest level of an organization, including working directly with the CEO and Board Members.
Supervisory Duties
Direct and Indirect Reports : Total team of 16 to 18 with 6 to 8 direct reports.
Working Environment / Physical Activities
- General office environment with each day spent at a desk or meeting with cross-functional teams.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and walk.
- On-site, in-person.
- Travel approximately 35% of the time.
Total Rewards
Compensation : Compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data and internal comps.
Salary Range : $160,000-$200,000 per year. Compensation will also include a short-term and long-term incentive plan, including participating in a generous In-Situ Stock Appreciation Rights Plan.
Additional Compensation : Participation in a Company-sponsored variable compensation plan.
