This recruitment will fill multiple positions at dental clinics throughout the Portland Metro area.

Integrated Clinical Services provides quality health services for people who experience barriers to accessing care. The vision of Integrated Clinical Services is to provide services that are integrated and connected to support optional health, reducing wait times and optimizing access.

The Dental Program works with many community partners, targeting underserved populations in Multnomah County to ensure access to dental services including providing education, prevention and dental treatment.

The Dental Sterilization Technician assists in performance of quality, caring, and clinical dentistry by preparing operatories and sterilizing or disinfecting clinical equipment.

The Dental Sterilization Technician will also assist the dentist, dental hygienist and Expanded Function Dental Assistants with sterilization of instruments and with chairside dental assisting when appropriate.

This position does not require previous dental experience. Sterilization and basic chairside dental assisting will be included in on-the-job training as a way to prepare this position.

The role may involve working in different locations and teams as directed by the Dental Clinic Program Supervisor.

As the Dental Sterilization Technician your responsibilities include :

Sterilization Functions :

Sterilize instruments and disinfect operatories.

Select / use correct cleaning methods and chemicals for each item.

Load / unload and operate ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves, etc.

Maintain handpieces and ensure sterilization of dental equipment.

Prepare materials and assist dentist or dental hygienist.

Maintain equipment, verify cycle parameters, and perform spore tests.

Comply with State and Federal OSHA laws, infection control, and safety standards in the dental office.

Assist with inventory control and monitor expiration dates.

Customer Service :

Interacts with patients in a respectful and courteous manner.

Proactively monitors client wait times and ensures patients are kept informed of schedule delays.

Conducts phone follow-up and documentation for missed patient appointments.

Acts as a liaison with treatment staff and providers.

Follows up on client concerns and takes action or refers to appropriate sources.

Conducts outreach calls and schedules patient appointments.

Teamwork :

Encourages team unity through sharing information, working collaboratively, productive problem-solving, and putting team success first.

Follows Downtime priorities and project lists.

Follows through on assigned tasks.

Assists clinics in meeting quality annual metrics in various tasks including chairside assistance, charting, outreach and patient engagement.

Help dental program increase patient access and engagement by utilizing a variety of outreach strategies.

Minimum Qualifications / Transferable Skills* :

Education : equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade

Experience : and up to one (1) year of customer service / teamwork experience.

BLS CPR Certification within 60 days of hire
