As a Senior Workspace Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the transformation of the Desktop computing environment.

This position has an emphasis on architecture and design for our Windows, Mac, and Virtual Desktop environments. The ability to establish processes and automate solutions are key functions for these platforms.

The Desktop Engineer also participates in the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure consistency with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate breadth of knowledge across multiple areas of information technology.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to current environment.
  • Development and deployment of unattended operating system installations for workstations / desktops / laptops for both Mac and Windows.

Requires strong knowledge of both JAMF and Intune.

  • Create documentation of technical designs and defining the knowledgebase of the infrastructure.
  • Implementation and maintenance of company-wide desktop standards and procedures
  • Drive technical debt out of the environment by keeping systems current and standard, while reducing variation.
  • Create and maintain processes through automation and associated documentation.
  • Develop utilities to streamline standards and deployment methodologies.
  • Provide in-house solutions for automating, streamlining, and querying environment and desktop environment data.
  • Automation of engineered scripted solutions to address configuration issues or desired results.
  • Good knowledge of Digital Employee Experience tools, identify performance issues, and isolate service performance problems across the delivery chain.
  • Advanced level troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis of the Desktop environment using Sysinternals Suite and other tools of a similar ilk.
  • Enhancing desktop security and configuration management through Policy.
  • Experience understanding of current industry trends and their advantages with ability to right fit into an existing environment.
  • Continually perform research, evaluate, and provide documented recommendations for innovative technologies and tools within the Information Technology field.
  • Implements and automate patches and upgrades as appropriate, managing the lifecycle of these systems.
  • Provides performance tuning strategies and their implementation.
  • Manage Desktop Infrastructure with key focus on O365 implementation, Unified Desktop implementation, DaaS, and AD consolidation.
  • Research new Desktop and supporting system cloud technologies and prototype solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs, increase performance, and develop standards for desktop, laptop, mobility, and audio / visual assets.
  • Execute POCs and feasibility studies to validate next-gen product concepts and technologies leveraging results to guide business and technology decisions.
  • Execute End-User service delivery aspects including OS and HW upgrade, desktop images buildout and software packaging that involve helping to sustain and optimize the endpoint environment to ensure that it is designed and managed effectively.

Education / Experience Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least seven (7) years of related experience, or equivalent training and / or work experience;

Master's degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.

  • Past senior level systems administrator experience in a production data center environment.
  • Knowledge of industry leading monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of at least one operating system and at least one contemporary scripting language.
  • Knowledge of communication and network technologies.
  • Exposure to common operational practices like metrics reporting, change management, incident management, problem management and communication ITIL & ISO : 9000 framework experience / certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships that improved the quality of work products.
  • Should be well organized, thorough, and able to handle competing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Willingness to accept new challenges and grasp new or changing concepts, technologies and procedures.

Work Conditions :

Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons

California : Minimum Salary $124,300, Maximum Salary $235,500

Washington, DC / Maryland : Minimum Salary $124,300, Maximum Salary $225,700

Colorado / Hawaii : Minimum Salary $108,200, Maximum Salary $196,200

New York, NY : Minimum Salary $129,800, Maximum Salary $235,500

Washington State : Minimum Salary $108,200, Maximum Salary $225,700
