Overview
As a Civil Engineering Intern for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in the Waste Management Practice at our Pittsburgh, PA office, you'll support in-office and field activities primarily associated with solid waste landfill and transfer station facilities.
In-office activities include engineering tasks such as tabulating laboratory and field test data, compilation of technical reports, stormwater management system design, and landfill gas collection system design.
Field activities include Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) tasks such as monitoring and documenting landfill cell, cap, and gas collection system construction, and use of equipment for monitoring landfill emissions.
You will interact and communicate with CEC office and field staff, clients, and contractors.
Through the CEC Internship Program, you will :
- Acquire practical experience applying knowledge from college courses, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with teams across functional groups and locations;
- Develop a robust professional network through social events and interactive activities;
- Collaborate closely with a mentor in your discipline to tackle real-world challenges; and
- Participate in workshops to help foster interpersonal skills within the workplace and prepare students for success in their full-time careers.
Qualifications
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate Civil or Environmental Engineering program;
- AutoCAD experience preferred;
- Prior internship and / or design experience a plus;
- Local candidates preferred.
