Job Details
- Hospital located on the Western Side of Iowa in need of a PCU RN on their Critical Care Unit.
- ICU experience is preferred but not required.
- The hospital is also seeking coverage on their night shifts.
- This is a twenty bed unit.
Job Requirements
- Department : Stepdown RN
- Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, stroke
- Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes
- Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes- does take a full patient assignment
- Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : Yes- 1 : 10
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? : CPAP
- Are there Tele / Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?
RNs must read and interpret strips
- How many shifts of unit / department specific orientation? : 1- 12 hour shift in the department
- Attributes that help make a nurse successful in this department are a positive attitude, teamwork, patient oriented, and comes to work to care for someone
- Radius Rule : 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and / or Dignity.
- RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
Schedule Information
- The hospital is seeking coverage on their night shifts.
- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) : 0630-1900, 1830-0700 / / cyclic scheduling
- Weekend Requirements : Every third
- Holiday Requirements : 1 major, 1 minor
- Floating Requirements : Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience
