What do we need?

The Assistant Infant Teacher works with the Lead Infant Teacher to provide a warm, loving atmosphere and classroom based on a philosophy of trauma informed principles and goals.

The Assistant Infant Teacher works with the Lead Infant Teacher works to support the academic and social development of children ages 6 weeks 18 months and their parents at the Center of Excellence.

Must be able to work and plan in a team setting, with patience, enthusiasm and respect for children, as well as parents and fellow staff.

Must have working knowledge of early childhood development.

Responsibilities

  • Understands the impact of stress and trauma on children and their families and can implement and build the trauma-informed framework developed in the classrooms.
  • Assists in planning, facilitating, and implementing curriculum for young children in a developmentally appropriate setting, based heavily in social-emotional development.
  • Encourages and teaches pre-literacy, communication, cognitive, social, and developmental skills.
  • Establishes welcoming and respectful relationships with parents.
  • Utilizes available tools to keep parents informed about their child's progress.
  • Observes, evaluates, and assess children's progress in collaboration with classroom teachers.
  • Observes and reports on physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of children, and work closely with Minneapolis Public Schools for referrals and screening.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DHS Rule 3.
  • Maintains appropriate program records.

Pay and Benefits

  • $25.00 / hour
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, 9 : 30 a.m. 6 : 00 p.m.

Compensation details : 25-25 Hourly Wage
