Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty : Medical Surgical (Med Surg)

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights, including weekends as scheduled

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Yes, willing to wait

Certifications : BLS (AHA)

Must-Have :

• Strong knowledge in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Experience with infectious diseases and isolation precautions

Job Description :

• Work in a MedSurg / Infectious Disease unit with 18 private rooms
• Patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6, or 1 : 4 if COVID cases
• Common conditions include infectious diseases such as COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff
• No cardiac drips; common drips include Heparin and standard MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics
• Charge Nurse available 24 / 7; night charge takes a full patient assignment
• Supported by 2 CNAs per shift; RT manages Cpap, Bipap, or high flow as needed
• Remote Tele monitoring supported; RNs not required to read or interpret strips
• Flexible 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling for permanent staff; travelers scheduled as needed
• Every-other-weekend required; weekend shifts include Friday / Saturday / Sunday nights
• Holidays may require coverage based on staffing needs
• Floating to other MedSurg units required; skill-appropriate assignments if floated to Tele

Additional Information :

• Dress code is royal blue scrubs; scrub jackets must also be royal blue
• Orientation includes one day of EPIC training and one day of floor orientation with a preceptor
• Third day of work is independent on the unit
• Charting system used is EPIC
• No requirement for a BSN
