And right now, we’re looking for a Programme Manager based at our Capenhurst site location. Reporting to the Head of Capital Project Delivery, the roleholder owns a programme of projects and leads a team of Project Managers accountable for project delivery within all resource constraints as defined in the overall site capital investment plan.

Ensuring coordinated and considered together as an integrated programme of works minimising logistical or resource conflict with the operational business.

A key part of the role is management of integrated resource plans (produced and maintained by Project Controls team) to allow resource managers to resource plan all functions necessary to deliver the programme.

What will your day look like?

  • You will safely deliver programme objectives compliant with Company Instructions with appropriately informed stakeholders.
  • You will manage the consistent production of appropriate project and programme foresight information to regularly inform the Head of Capital Project Delivery of achieving defined business case objectives within budget and time resource constraints.
  • Working with the Project Managers / Engineers within the projects department and alongside Group projects, develop the forward detail in the capital plan to support the 10 year business plan.
  • You will plan 12, 24 and 36 month talent and business infrastructure requirements to deliver the programme's objectives within the resources allocated for their completion including coordination of integrated project logistics mapped to the operational businesses requirements.

Identify and manage all risks to service delivery.

  • You will drive accountability and ownership of the management of projects to the Project Managers, ensuring they are actively managing the resources, cost, schedule, interfaces with site functions and the supply chain to successfully deliver their projects across the project lifecycle from concept all the way to handover and commissioning.
  • You will act as the key communicator for programme delivery.
  • You will coordinate with the operational management of the site the safe integrated delivery of the programme to optimise logistical interface, causing least practical disruption to the operation of the site.
  • You will collaborate to plan programme management support requirements over 12, 24 and 36 months identifying opportunities for continual improvement in team efficiency.

Innovation ideas shall be captured in a log recording the assessment decision and tracking improvements recording the source, capture, knowledge transfer and benefit of the innovation.

  • You will facilitate Continual Personal Development of the Programme Delivery Team, by collection, dissemination and effective use of learning from experience, acting as mentor or coach to others.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and construction departments to ensure a safe, compliant and value for money outcome for each project within the individual Programme and across the overall investment Programme.
  • Develop and own relevant KPIs to measure programme performance.
  • Line management of Senior Project Managers and Project Managers & Project Engineers, including performance management and matching the talent pool (via the Design Manager) to the individual programme requirements.
  • You will manage the resources within the individual Programme to enable delivery of the forward capital plan; upskill the capability of the team by development, training, and recruitment of fresh talent where appropriate, and management of a succession plan within the team.
  • Ensure transparent reporting of individual Programme status and risks to UUK stakeholders is delivered. This requires accurate and timely management of Early Warning Notices (EWNs), Project Change Requests (PCRs) involving all required stakeholders.

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • A technical or business degree or similar (or appropriate industry experience). Member of appropriate project management organisation.
  • Programme management methodologies for managing successful programmes, managing complex multi-disciplinary programmes in regulated environments.
  • Project objectives realisation using Urenco processes, procedures and effective communication at a senior business decision making level.
  • Site and construction safety legislation safeguards and practice (CDM, CSCS, & NEBOSH), security protocols, health and environmental legislation and good practice.
  • The uranium enrichment process and inherent risks including knowledge of the Urenco business, both from a technical and business perspective.
  • Relevant legislation and regulatory philosophies, practice, requirements and guidance, safety, security, safeguards, health and environmental issues.
  • The full nuclear licensing lifecycle, relevant codes, standards and guidance.
  • Managing high levels of performance through continual improvement in management controls including programme controls tools and value management techniques as well as information architecture management and associated stakeholder management;

implementing and managing high levels of team performance in objectives management.

  • Managing high levels of performance and continual improvement in; resource management; risk management; financial controls, organisational governance;
  • IOSH and UK H&S at work; CDM Regulations; UK Construction legislation; Nominated construction contract practice and procedures;

Planning law and building regulations in the UK, lean construction and sustainable procurement.

Managing successful programmes under appropriate Company Instructions to deliver the business case objectives by completion of a programme.

With the Programme Manager, collaboratively score against key performance indicators of the individual programme delivery service.

  • Conversant in business English.
  • Ability to analyse project requirements and critical success factors and translate these into bespoke Delivery Strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategies that successfully deliver project to Business objectives (safety, budget, cost).
  • Experience of and be skilled in managing ambiguity and being confident to take accountability for delivering projects to the Business.
  • Experience of managing complex contractual relationships including the provision of free-issue materials, technology or IP, able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing suppliers to deliver within this context.
  • Demonstrable ability in building teams of highly performing professionals, communicating strategy and building a team accountable for the delivery of the project.
  • Solid knowledge of leading project management techniques.
  • Skilled in leading project teams to success with minimal supervision.
  • Technical background in engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of the EPC contractor, major EPS and Construction supply markets and will have gained insights into their relative strengths and weaknesses and ability to leverage relationships with key members of supplier’s leadership teams to Urenco’s advantage.
  • Proven track record in managing contract delivery, protecting the owner’s contractual position at all times and preventing the likelihood of claims.
