ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Yolo County Children's Alliance (YCCA) vision is to protect and empower children by strengthening families throughout Yolo County.

We recognize that better futures for our children start by building thriving environments to live, learn, and grow. YCCA ensures everyone in Yolo County has access to the resources they need to build meaningful ties to their communities and each other.

To accomplish this, YCCA has expanded on our foundational role as the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of Yolo County.

Today, we serve as an inter-agency coordinator, building networks of support throughout Yolo County to deliver programs funded by numerous community and government grants, as well as individual donations.

Our work focuses on three family-strengthening pillars : Family Support, Parent Education, and Community Collaboration.

ROLE IMPACT

Your impact as the Program Director for Home Visiting & Family Strengthening Services helps YCCA in meeting the needs of the communities we serve by supervising and overseeing two of YCCA's high quality, community-based programs so they have the resources needed to succeed.

These programs take a strengths-based approach and focus on access to family resources, information, and building of social capital.

The Program Director is responsible for quality assurance, coordination, and communication across these programs as well as providing day to day administrative and budgetary oversight, program support, and supervision of one (1) Family Strengthening Program Manager and three (3) Healthy Families Yolo County Supervisors.

This is a senior leadership role that will often participate in the executive leadership and decision-making process for the organization.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROGRAM DIRECTOR

You will work with the Home Visiting & Family Strengthening Services teams who provide services to parents, legal guardians and caretaker's (referred by Child Welfare Services) that build and strengthen protective factors ensuring child safety, permanency, and well-being while family support focuses on Behavioral Management, Crisis Management, Social Connection, Separation, and Resource Support.

Daily duties may include :

  • Direct, train, supervise and evaluate program management staff; coach and mentor department team to enhance knowledge, understanding and performance to achieve department goals and fulfill program contract requirements
  • Assist in researching grant opportunities to help maintain and grow Home Visiting and Family Strengthening programs
  • Represent YCCA's work within a network of nationally accredited home visiting programs and within a local network of family serving agencies and organizations
  • Ensure proper documentation and training is performed throughout the year for the two program teams to meet internal YCCA requirements and funder / contract commitments
  • Manage program budgets, external contracts, and grant agreements
  • Ensure program managers are adhering to program guidelines as dictated by Health Families America Best Practice Standards and the Scope of Work agreements in current contracts for : the California Home Visiting Program, The CHILD Project-Road to Resilience, and Welcome Baby
  • Assist Program Managers / Supervisors with completing and submitting reports and evaluations as requested by funders or stakeholders according to the report deadlines by funder and HFA that include monthly, quarterly, Fiscal half year, and annual reports
  • Assist Program Managers / Supervisors in maintaining program accreditation through Healthy Families America including the self-study and reaccreditation process which comes due every 4 years
  • Work with Program Managers / Supervisors to develop and update the HFYC program Policies and Procedures manual as needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Healthy Families Yolo County (HFYC) Community Advisory Board as required by HFA Best Practice Standards
  • In conjunction with Program Managers / Supervisors, collaborate and maintain positive relationships with other local service agencies, governmental institutions, foundations, schools, businesses and other strategic partners, other Yolo County home visiting programs, Yolo County hospitals, clinics, WIC, and other similar programs to enhance programs and services to target populations
  • Represent YCCA and the HFYC and Family Strengthening programs at county, state, and regional levels including Yolo County Home Visiting Collaborative, MCAH Advisory Board, Northern California Region Healthy Families America home visiting consortium, California State Home Visiting Program consortium and the National Healthy Families America Program consortium
  • Must work YCCA sanctioned community events that assist in delivering program services to the communities we serve
  • And any other related assigned duties needed to help drive our Vision and fulfill our Mission

CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS FOR A CANDIDATE TO SUCCEED IN THE ROLE

Must Have Skills / Qualifications

  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ability to work effectively in a secure database
  • Strong data management and reporting skills for quality assurance and for presenting data in reports, memos, charts, graphs, and other appropriate forms
  • Strong operational skills, expertise and experience in administrative systems, reporting, and budget management
  • A solid understanding of or experience in supervising and motivating staff, as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environments.

Experienced in or open to reflective practice.

  • Experience in Quality Assurance / Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment.
  • Experience with family services that embrace the concepts of family-centered, strengths-based, and trauma informed service provision.
  • Knowledge of maternal-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
  • Experience in home visiting, preferred with background in prevention services for ages 0-3.
  • Experience providing services to culturally diverse communities / families
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel throughout the county, Northern CA, or out-of-state for meetings and conferences

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with Healthy Families America
  • Understanding of or experience with the 5 protective factors
  • Understanding of or experience with trauma informed care
  • Knowledge of child welfare system, educational system, and issues that affect families
  • Familiarity with Yolo County is a plus

Essential Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to perform tasks which involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work as well as lift up to 20lbs.

Experience & Educational Background

Candidates must have either a Master's degree in public health or human services administration or fields related to working with children and families or a Bachelor's degree in these fields with 5 years of relevant program experience.
