Our client is a recognized leader in the development and production of science-backed, specialty ingredients for the health and wellness industry.

It focuses on creating innovative and clinically substantiated nutritional ingredients used in dietary supplements, functional foods, and beverages.

The Senior Product Marketing Manager oversees the development and launch of new products while managing the product lifecycle for a health ingredient portfolio.

This role involves identifying growth opportunities through market analysis, consumer insights, and customer feedback, and aligning them with the company's strategy.

The successful candidate will guide projects through the NPD process and implement commercial launch plans. Strong project management skills and a deep understanding of market dynamics and science-backed ingredients are essential, as well as the ability to translate data into actionable insights and collaborate across teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

New Product Development 70%

  • Lead the development of new product concepts with compelling value propositions to enter the NPD process and align cross-functionally on technical product requirements for success.
  • Responsible for progressing new product opportunities through the NPD process and accountable for documenting approvals, feedback, and next steps at stage-gate meetings, working with cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Leverage primary and secondary market and consumer insight and build a robust competitive landscape understanding across core health areas to inform key product success requirements for both new and existing products.
  • Drive the development and execution of go-to-market launch plans for new products and product improvements.
  • Proactively identify and analyze ingredient licensing / partnership opportunities leveraging industry knowledge, insights, and competitive analysis and present findings to internal teams.
  • Develop comprehensive opportunity assessments and conduct initial diligence of ingredient licensing or acquisition opportunities through review of product unique selling propositions, benefit claims, scientific support, and other relevant attributes, and develop initial business case for commercialization.
  • Partner cross-functionally across the organization to review and evaluate new ingredient candidates and identify opportunities and risks from a scientific, technical, supply chain, manufacturing, and marketing perspective.
  • Attend industry tradeshows, conferences, webinars, etc. to strengthen market understanding, competitive intelligence, and identify potential ingredient opportunities and innovation partnerships.
  • Partner with marketing and R&D leadership on refining the NPD stage-gate process and lead oversight and advancement of active NPD projects through the development process.

Product Lifecycle Management 30%

  • Conduct portfolio competitive analysis to understand gaps and opportunities in existing product mix.
  • In partnership with R&D and scientific affairs, develop recommendations and strategies for product improvements or extensions that deliver additional value to customers and the business, and champion projects through the defined NPD process.
  • Liaise with sales to understand customer expectations and pain points to be addressed via product improvements.
  • Develop business cases and lead opportunity sizing exercises to determine product renovation or repositioning with greatest market and business potential, and drive the product strategy from concept to commercial launch.

Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree; preferred in business or marketing.
  • 7-10+ years in a related marketing, product management, or business development role, with specific experience in B2B functional ingredients.
  • Strong project management skills and skilled at aligning teams to project plans and timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and / or bringing new ingredient products to market.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and thrive in both a fast-paced environment and dealing with ambiguity.
