Job Description
NETWORK ANALYST-SOUND TRANSIT
The Network Tester for Sound Transit will be a skilled network technician with responsibilities for testing networks by traveling to the sites and data centers and relaying gathered information for documentation.
The Network Tester must have high energy, work well with Sound Transit team, and be flexible to work in a dynamic environment.
Sound Transit Information Technology is pursuing a holistic approach to review its network and data center architecture, re-evaluate where they need to be in the future, and may apply recommendations from this assessment to build a new network environment.
This role is a part of the network audit is a review of Sound Transit’s existing network infrastructure, physical management, and performance to identify opportunities for improvement and get a comprehensive view of the state of the network.
The information gathered from existing sites and data centers and will include; a full accounting of racks, power, and power load, Fiber level verification, Patch Panel Inventory and Conduit proofing.
The set deliverables to be documented for this engagement will be; inventory listing & details, site floor plan, rack elevations, connectivity diagram and digital photos.
Scope of work Plugging in a laptop into a configured port for NG Orca. Verify the laptop obtains an IP address lease. Verify that laptop can ping specified vendor devices.
Identify / Document any issues and escalate to network engineering. Position will most likely work off hours, not 100% on this but to get to these closets would be easier during off hours.
Will be working with operation transit.
