What is the opportunity?

The Senior Database Engineer / Administrator will support the development and maintenance of scalable data stores that supply big data in forms needed for business analysis.

What will you do?

• Create software for retrieving, parsing and processing structured and unstructured data
• Handle large datasets and build large and complex data reporting, integrating data coming from diverse sources in different formats, while automating wherever and whenever possible
• Lead the development of project approaches, proposals, business cases and timelines to support the implementation of automation solutions (dev / test / production)
• Define and build scalable ETL / ELT workflows for reporting and analytics
• Developing scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats
• The responsibilities will be a 50-50 split between support and development

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Minimum 7 years' experience performing reporting and business analysis
• Post secondary degree
• Advanced SSIS Experience - must have experience with C# and VB Script Tasks; Data Flow Tasks, importing Excel (and other) files;

SQL Tasks; Loops; using Logging, etc. Understand the use of database backups, how to restore backups, etc.

Complex T-SQL : using stored procedure parameters; declaring variables; table variables; using system functions; using If statements and While loops;

using Begin / Catch; complex table joins

• Query Optimization : able to find query bottlenecks and solution changes to fix them. Understands when queries can be combined to avoid excessive table reads.
• Database Design : Creating tables, indexes, triggers, views, etc.

Nice-to-have

• 3+ years of experience in Financial Services
• Bachelors Degree in Business Statistics, Data Science, Predictive Analytics or other applicable field
• Prior experience with Service Now
• Exposure to Cloud Services such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, etc.
