The Postpartum Unit at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor to join their amazing team!
Schedule : Full-Time Days, 3x12 hour shifts per week 7am-7pm
A postpartum nurse assumes care for the mother / baby couplet shortly following delivery. The nurse monitors the mother frequently during her recovery period and the body's transition back to normalcy.
The nurse monitors the baby's transitional period from intrauterine into the world. Supporting breastfeeding is a key component in the postpartum period for the couplet dyad.
Maintaining pain control, educating on self-care and newborn care along with handling deviations from current plan of care are top priorities for the RN.

The Inova Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor :
Front line leader who is accountable for delivering highly reliable results related to Quality and Best Practices to improve clinical operation of the unit;
embraces, uses and understands the research behind nursing practice and quality tools. Supports unit-based shared governance and decentralized decision-making structures and processes.
Role model who leads by example in delivering Service Always and in making Patient Experience a priority on unit(s) of responsibility.
Seeks every opportunity to meet the unique needs of each person we are privileged to serve-every time, every touch. Ensures that care is patient-centered.

Required Experience : At least one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
Preferred Experience : Two years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience on an inpatient postpartum unit
General Requirements :
- Proficient in English, strong verbal, and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others

- Proficient computer skills required
Minimum Education Requirement :
Education : BSN from an accredited school of nursing OR Associate Degree RNs that are within one year of completing their BSN.
Minimum Licensure / Certification Requirement :
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
- Specialty certification (as required by the unit) within one year of hire.
- Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days of employment
