Manager, HR Business Partner

HITT Contracting is seeking a leader of our HR Business Partner team responsible for providing professional guidance and supporting our team members and business leaders across our 14 office locations nationwide.

The ideal candidate will have high levels of motivation, strong organization skills, and be influential in achieving operational excellence and driving a best-in-class employee experience.

This individual will supervise HR business partnership in the following functional areas : employee relations, performance management, employee engagement and programming, HR policy and procedure, federal and state compliance, and general HR administration of first-level inquiries related to recruiting, benefits, and payroll.

This individual will need to translate broad, longer-term vision and objectives into specific milestones and goals and must be comfortable making quick but sound decisions.

This position is intended to be filled in our Falls Church, Virginia office, and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Team Member Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of HR business partners, ensuring alignment between the business operations and HR strategy, practices, and objectives, and delivery of an exceptional experience throughout each interaction, regardless of location.
  • Act as an advisor and strategic resource to the HR team, senior leadership, and managers on a variety of employee relations issues including performance management, career development, retention tactics, team building, conflict resolution, employee feedback sessions, etc.
  • Supervise thorough and objective investigations as needed, assess risk, and determine appropriate courses of action, working closely with the HR leadership and legal as appropriate.
  • Guide, train, and direct managers and team members on appropriate federal and state legal compliance and leave policies (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.).
  • Analyze data for trends and provide ad hoc reports to support departmental goals and business initiatives (terminations, compensation, hires, diversity, etc.).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of various enterprise-facing HR policies, projects, and initiatives.
  • Upkeep status changes and documentation related to the employee life cycle (i.e., offer letters, internal transfers, and offboarding).
  • Identify, create, and promote practices with a focus on organization-wide awareness and benefits of diverse and inclusive workforces.
  • Partner closely with our Recruiting team to help attract and hire the best and diverse talent across all markets.
  • Partner closely with our Team Member Engagement team to help engage and retain talent across all markets.
  • Support broader HR projects and goals as needed and maintains confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Travel on an as needed but limited basis to HITT’s various office or jobsite locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of HR Business Partner experience.
  • Experience managing a team of decentralized HR professionals.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and be a resourceful, savvy professional that is committed to finding solutions and making an impact.
  • Possesses a strong business acumen and excellent employee relations and conflict resolution skills.
  • Keen attention to detail with ability to track and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Eagerness to integrate into a family-oriented, entrepreneurial, and highly demanding work environment.
  • Self-starter with track record of producing results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and requires minimal direction in achieving goals, yet also maintains strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Capable of identifying performance and / or behavioral gaps that can negatively influence culture.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental HR principles, practices, and appropriate employment laws such as FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience building relationships internally and externally.
