The Strategy, Planning, and Operations team establishes the vision for building collaborative partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts with students, faculty, and staff on behalf of the IT Services organization.

This team aligns and manages the IT roadmap, portfolio, programs, and projects with university priorities; and enables an integrated and collaborative approach to organizational change management and communication efforts to meet the needs of the university while recognizing the unique requirements of UCLA's different schools and units.

The Strategy, Planning, and Operations team also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including finance, procurement, talent management, general administrative functions, internal communications, and culture development.

The IT Talent Management & Culture team manages day-to-day talent management services and operations for ITS in collaboration with Campus Human Resources (CHR) and the HR Payroll & Operations Center (HRPOC).

This team executes talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, staff and leadership development, performance management, recognition, HR policy adherence, and succession planning for the ITS workforce.

Develop and drive UCLA’s IT organization toward a shared set of beliefs and behaviors that determine how management and employees interact, deliver IT service to customers, and handle external business transactions.

Position Summary

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and support of a full array of talent management (TM) processes, programs and providing strategic consultation to organizational leadership and team members, and mentoring the IT Services department's TM practitioners.

This team member will combine deep knowledge and expertise in modern TM practices with the acumen and capabilities to drive TM initiatives and ensure the IT Services organization's TM practices are in alignment with organizational goals and strategy.

The Senior HR Business Partner will play a pivotal role in talent management, employee engagement, policy development, and fostering a positive work culture.

The Senior HR Business Partner will lead collaboration with IT Services leaders to assess talent needs to create strategies to address organizational capabilities and provide coaching and guidance to leaders on employee performance management, career development, and leadership initiatives.

Additionally, this individual will serve as the TM subject matter expert on critical IT initiatives and projects. The Senior HR Business Partner will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling UCLA IT Services to attract, retain, and develop its staff in service of the institution's academic, research and service mission.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional talent management services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

  • Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields : talent management, organizational development, compensation, employee and labor relations or other related field. (Required)
  • Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields : talent management, organizational development, compensation, employee and labor relations or related field. (Required)
  • Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices. (Required)
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas. (Required)
  • Demonstrated success with modern talent management concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, compensation, performance management, organizational development and related functions. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive talent management strategies and initiatives, including mentoring and developing less experienced talent management practitioners. (Required)
  • Advanced knowledge of a human resources information / management system (HRIS / HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenging talent management matters or volatile situations / individuals effectively. (Required)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex talent management topics and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders.

Ability to relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)

  • Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)
  • Advanced organizational skills to balance competing priorities and deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholder types. (Required)
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; ability to uncover root of difficult problems and scope solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines.

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources / talent management, industrial / organizational psychology, organizational development, business administration, communications, or related field or combination of experience / training. (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources / talent management, industrial / organizational psychology, organizational development, business administration, communications, liberal arts, or related field. (Preferred)
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, or similar certification (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel / lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).
  • The anticipated pay range for this position is $86,900 - $125,000, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.

  • Background Check : Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
