Director of Software Engineering
Our client has an opening for a hands-on Director of Software Engineering. This is a full-time direct hire role with a rapidly growing company based out of Philadelphia.

In this leadership role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the technical direction of our company, overseeing the software development lifecycle, and fostering a culture of excellence within the engineering organization.
This position allows you to leverage strong technical skills in Java and modern web technologies to guide a high-performing engineering team.
Responsibilities :
- Provide technical leadership and vision, ensuring the engineering team aligns with strategic business objectives.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions using Java, Spring, JPA, Postgres, and JavaFX.
- Champion the adoption and implementation of CI / CD pipelines to streamline the software delivery process.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering team by mentoring, coaching, and providing career development opportunities.
- Manage technical debt and promote best practices in software development, including version control with Git and project management with Atlassian tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, etc.) to ensure seamless software delivery.
- Champion technical innovation, staying abreast of the latest trends in Java and web technologies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners.
- Apply a working knowledge of TCP / IP networking principles to inform software design decisions.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of building and shipping high-quality, scalable software applications.
- In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, JPA, Postgres, JavaFX, CI / CD technologies, Git, and Atlassian tools.
- Working knowledge of TCP / IP networking concepts.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Passion for building and inspiring high-performing teams.
