The Balcones Distillery is a grain-to-glass full production distillery in Waco, Texas. Specializing in American Single Malt and Single Grain whisky, we operate a 200 bbl.

brewhouse and fermenter batch size with 2 x 100 bbl. wash distillations and 2 x 65 bbl. spirit distillations running Monday through Saturday.?

SCOPE OF ROLE

The Wastewater technician will work within the Stillhouse. The Technician will also be cross-trained in other departments, including the maintenance & facilities management elements of our production process.

Candidates who demonstrate proficiency during their evening shifts will also be trained to work the morning shift and will eventually be asked to work some 13-hour shifts from 7am to 8pm, including on weekends.

The Wastewater Technician will work as a member of the Stillhouse team from 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm and will be responsible for managing and maintaining the distillery's wastewater treatment process, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and maintaining accurate records.

Candidates MUST be serious about safety, quality, cleanliness and attention to detail.

The Wastewater Technician will also be cross trained in other departments, including the maintenance & facilities management elements and spirits production process.

The work schedule may be required to cover 8-hour shift with required daily / weekend overtime. Our company is moving to a 24-hour operation likely in our future;

candidates must be willing to work overnight shifts will be considered especially valuable.

Candidates MUST be serious about safety, quality, and attention to detail. A good candidate will also need to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to twist and turn, be able to reach over your shoulders, and work in a standing, walking, or crouching position at a steady pace.

Initially, candidates must be willing to work a majority of their week in the evenings, though there may be some daytime shifts.

PAY RATE : $21.80 / hour and an annual incentive plan targeting a bonus of 10%

WORK LOCATION : 225 S. 11th Street, Waco, TX 76701

SCHEDULE : Schedule presently is 7am-3 : 30pm, Monday through Friday.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Operate and maintain the distillery's wastewater treatment system, including pumps, tanks, and other equipment.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment process to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular testing of wastewater samples to ensure treatment systems are functioning properly.
  • Troubleshoot and repair any issues with the wastewater treatment process.
  • Maintain inventory of treatment chemicals and testing solutions.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of wastewater treatment processes, including logbooks and documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Outfall sampling at distillery and warehouse locations.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and replacing filters and membranes. Safely operate forklift and pallet jack to move pallets of chemicals.
  • Work with other team members to implement improvements to the wastewater treatment process.
  • Participate in safety training programs and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in chemistry or environmental science preferred.
  • Experience working with wastewater treatment systems preferred.
  • Wastewater operator's license preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements related to wastewater treatment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including schematics and manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to obtain forklift certification.
