Unit Description : Medial Floor
The Medical Floor is a 46 bed Med-Surge unit with 4 Isolation rooms, 2 which are negative pressure rooms that house TB and Covid patients.
This floor does not have telemetry. The Medical Floor has a general mix of patients; COPD, GI issues, ETOH, Dementia, Pneumonia, etc.
Expectations of RNs along with other policies and procedures : Attend shift safety huddle, Multidisciplinary rounds on days, Bedside shift report, float to like floors, be positive! Staff must be fitted for an N95.
Position Summary : RN Medical
The RN is responsible for the accurate reconciliation of medications for the admitted patient. Working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Resources this position works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to communicate any discrepancies in the patient’s medication history.
Works closely with the Quality Department, Nursing Leadership, and medical providers to identify opportunities for improvement in the medication reconciliation process.
RN Med Floor Responsibilities :
- Provides direct patient care
- Delegates / assigns responsibility as appropriate to others
- Serves as leader of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with and under the direction of the attending physician.
- Focuses on completion of the nursing process including patient / family education and discharge planning.
- Understands and acts appropriately to ensure optimum use of all resources.

RN Med Floor Qualifications :
One year of medical-surgical or acute care / hospital nursing experience required.
RN Med Floor Education :
- Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing Program.
- Current license and registration to practice Registered Professional Nursing in New York State
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred; new hires will be required to complete their BSN within 5 years of hire.
