A. Primary Purpose of Job
Serve as a provider of clinical services within the scope of practice guidelines of the State Nursing Practice Act. Create and maintain a positive experience for patients and colleagues at MedWise.
Care for patients under the direction of the Regional Medical Director and in compliance with MedWise's philosophy as well as standards of practice and regulations of government agencies.
B. Position Responsibilities
- Clinical Care and Customer Service
- Provide healthcare in collaboration with medical care team.
- Appropriately addresses patient requests for accommodations to facilitate accessible and inclusive care.
- Interview patients to obtain history, perform examinations, order labs and other tests / diagnostic procedures, prescribe medications and treatments.
- Manage cases according to established protocols.
- Maintain case histories, medical reports, and other records.
- Prepare treatment plans and patient education counseling.
- Perform other duties as requested by medical care team.
- Follow prescriptive protocols and state guidelines for Prescriptive and Distributing Authority as outlined by the local State Board of Nursing.
- Provide consistent and efficient customer service using empathy, compassion, and good judgement.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations to maintain patient's rights to privacy by not discussing privileged information outside the work area and preserving the patient's dignity at all times.
- Other Responsibilities and Duties
- Must maintain continuing education requirements, certifications, and licenses from the appropriate governing board (i.e.
state and federal), if applicable.
- Must effectively demonstrate required competencies per MedWise policies.
- Pursue self-improvement through becoming familiar with new policies and procedures.
- Understand, promote and operate by overall company vision and values, goals, objectives and strategies.
- Participate in the Disaster Recovery plan as required.
- Promote harmony, teamwork, leadership, good supervisory and employee relations through setting a positive example.
- Participate in training, orientation and staff development programs.
- Work amicably with leadership team in providing appropriate feedback regarding all issues including patient care, clinical issues, facility issues, operational issues and staff issues.
- Must be willing to travel between MedWise Urgent Care clinics and facilities and work flexible schedule to meet clinic demands.
- Must review MedWise electronic communications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Specifications
- Required education / license / certification :
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
- The employee shall be licensed and meet the requirements of the State Boards of Examiners in which MedWise employs them;
and be licensed to practice medicine without restrictions with the state in which MedWise employs them.
- Current DEA license or certification.
- Valid state / government issued identification.
- Must be able to meet MedWise credentialing and privilege requirements.
- Desired education / certification :
- DOT Certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Required experience :
- 1 year of experience in a clinical setting in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, or an ambulatory care setting.
Alternatively, graduate training in which the employee can demonstrate experience in these clinical settings is acceptable.
- Desired experience :
- 1 year of experience in a clinical setting in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, or an ambulatory care setting.
- Required skills :
- People-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Worker must be able to concentrate and perform work with many interruptions (persons and telephone). He / she must be able to conceptualize work delegated by manager in order to complete it correctly.
He / she must learn new process as MedWise changes. He / she must be able to think through, reason and solve problems. He / she must maintain his / her composure with internal and external customers.
