Job Responsibilities :
- Provide Social / Emotional Interventions through expressive play sessions with children, focusing on the development of skills necessary for school success.
- Consult / collaborate with social worker, teachers, and school Student Support Team (SST) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams to identify and target specific goals for each student.
- Assist students with setting goals to increase their feelings of school success.
- Communicate and correspond with teachers, parents, principal, social worker and SST / MTSS team regarding student progress.
- Design and construct friendly space to include creative problem-solving materials.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Job Qualifications :
- Experience in working with and building relationships with elementary school students.
- Evidence of the ability to work as a cooperative team member.
- Evidence of the ability to be reliable, adaptable, and empathetic.
- Successful completion of Children's Institute Child Associate Training preferred.
- Experience using "self-directed play", Primary Project mental health prevention model preferred.
- Evidence of the ability to work independently and display initiative.
- Evidence of the ability to customize appropriate pay methods based on individual need.
- Ability to work well with teachers, parents, and social worker in order to carry out program objectives and goals.
- Evidence of strong writing skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and excellent record of responsibility.
- Demonstrated evidence of organizational skills, punctuality, and efficiency.
- Evidence of ability to accept direction from supervising teacher (s) and school social worker, school psychologist and work as a team member with other professionals.
- Evidence of willingness to abide by confidentiality policy and practice of the district.
- Evidence of strong communication skills and proven record of positive interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.
