POSITION SUMMARY : Provides treatments to patients by evaluating the function and applying appropriate treatments to improve or restore function.
Participates in an interdisciplinary approach for in servicing, community education, and clinical education of students.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION :
- Graduate of an accredited program of Physical Therapy with a minimum of a B.S.
- Must hold a current state license in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
- Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist required.
COMPETENCIES :
- This position requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have personal computer skills and be proficient in Windows based programs.
- Access to reliable transportation is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Evaluates patients based on departmental standard.
- Conducts and modifies evaluations based on the patient's symptoms and medical status.
- Treats patients with appropriate therapeutic exercises, physical agents, and manual techniques.
- Educates patients / families in home exercise programs and functional activities.
- Documents in accordance to insurance guidelines and department's policies.
- Seeks and fosters communication with the referring physician regarding patient care.
- Attends continuing education courses to further / improve treatment techniques.
- Participates in departmental in-service or community in-service programs.
