Senior Product Manager Vehicle State (Embedded Controls)
Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The newly created Product Management team at General Motors is adding a Senior Product Manager position that will be focused on Vehicle State products.
There is a lot of opportunity for this role to make a substantial contribution to overall success of the organization.
The Role :
As the Senior Product Manager for Vehicle State , you will be responsible for developing, managing, and driving product initiatives across the organization.
This also includes working with cross-functional teams, conducting market research, and collaborating with other teams to ensure the successful launch of new products.
The role requires strong analytical skills, communication ability, and a passion for delivering exceptional products that meet customer needs.
We are looking for a Technical Product Manager who understands the ins and outs of Vehicle State products from an Embedded Software, Controls, Systems or Calibration perspective.
This includes products such as : Drive modes (tour, sport, etc.), powering up the vehicle, powering down the vehicle, and others.
What You’ll do :
- Lead and collaborate with a large set of stakeholders to identify, build, and test customer value propositions
- Understand your customer better than anyone else by creating and analyzing software related to dealership and vehicle data
- Communicate complex subjects in a simple and straightforward way
- Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap based on customer needs and market trends.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities and potential threats
- Define and track key metrics using OKRs and KPIs to measure product success and inform future decisions
- Communicate product updates, progress, and plans to stakeholders across the organization, including executives, customers, and partners
- Conduct post-launch analysis to evaluate product performance and identify areas for improvement
- Continuously iterate and improve the product based on user feedback, market trends, and business goals
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
- 8+ years of Engineering experience in a technical environment requiring a high analytical capability
- 5+ years of relevant Software Development, Controls, Systems and / or Calibration experience
- Must have hands on experience with Vehicle State products from an embedded software, controls, systems or calibration perspective (Power up vehicle, power down vehicle, drive modes, etc.)
- 2+ years of Product Management experience including Roadmap Definitions, Benchmarking (competitors and new technologies) and Program Execution
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels of the company
- Deep understanding of hardware and software development
- Must be a skilled problem solver that utilizes data and experience to identify problems and solutions
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- 5+ years of Product Management experience
- 3+ years of Embedded Software and Controls experience
- Strong understanding of major automotive systems and subsystems
- Strong understanding of Global Vehicle Development Process and program execution deliverables
- Industry knowledge and expertise of Vehicle State products (current status of the industry and future tech / etc.)
