Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking Per Diem Technician I for New Jersey State Prison, located in Trenton, NJ.
The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.
Among the duties for the position are :
- Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Assists the physician / associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
- Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
- Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
- Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

Seniority Unit Terms of Appointment Staff - 12 month Position Pension Eligibility PERS Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience
- Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position
Certifications / Licenses
- CPR Certification
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes.
Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements
