JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for training all field based security officers and new hires for defined programs. Maintains records and certifications for all training delivered in-house or outsourced. Distinguishing Characteristics : Primarily performs non-exempt duties in a service capacity; may be assigned a service grade or rank in a chain of command in conformance with contract requirements or to facilitate the delivery of service according to business necessity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The functions listed describe the business purpose of this job or position. Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately. In performing functions, duties or tasks, associates are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Associates are required to notify superiors upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions. All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, associates are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives. Core Duties Include Instructs associates in legally mandated and company-mandated training requirements; ensures compliance with and documents the training requirements. Follows established training policies, programs and schedules to conduct courses; coordinates training activities so as not to conflict with client service schedules. Uses appropriate instructional procedures or methods, such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role-playing, and computer based training. Maintains thorough knowledge of all PGS Policies and Procedures. Distributes training manuals; administers tests and evaluations; coordinates reference library, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. Maintains logs, sign-in sheets, and records and prepares reports to evaluate performance and monitor progress of trainees. The Training Officer will have a core work schedule, but may be required to work odd hours in order to ensure that officers on all shifts are trained properly as per Post Orders and SOP. Provides training of all new hires as required, and may include, but not limited to Company Introduction, safe driving and more. Conducts monthly and annual reinforcement training of all uniformed personnel and maintains training records. Oversees and schedules applicable weekly / annual certifications which may include, but is not limited to : First Aid / CPR / AED, Physical agility, Hazmat and more. Conducts daily Post Inspections, as well as random, unscheduled weekly Post Inspections, and reports weekly matrixes to the Operations Manager. Maintains licensing of all officers and ensures that officers have licensing as per City, State and Client requirements and ensure all officers meet and / or exceed compliance. Assists with the development of lesson plans for training as assigned. Reviews current Post Orders (PO) with officers along with any revisions and updates to policy and procedure that can and will affect operations. Administers the proprietary Five Star Security Officer Program. Maintains a monthly account of progress and monthly account for Senior PGS Management. May be required to perform Security Officer duties in addition to Training Officer duties. Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position. Background Prerequisites Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements. Education / Experience : High School Diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months of demonstrated, consistent and highly competent Security Officer Experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Applicable Instructor Certifications Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and / or testing) : 5 Star program certification (or equivalent) required for internal candidates; for external candidates must successfully complete 5 Start program within 3 months. Skill in the use of audio-visual equipment and personal computers, including presentation software. Oral and written communications skills; presentation and group facilitation skills. Ability to understand the security service needs of customers and devise appropriate training strategies. Skill in observation, coaching and providing feedback to associates. Establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships with employees, client representatives and the public. May be required to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers. Valid driver’s license, if required to drive. Ability to carry out multiple assignments concurrently. Ability to be an effective team member, as Training Officer to lead by example, to handle project assignments responsibly and to encourage and to develop team cohesiveness. Strong customer service, interpersonal skills and results. Working Conditions and Physical / Mental Demands With or without reasonable accommodation, a candidate must have the physical and mental capacity to effectively perform all essential functions described. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include : Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure or stressful situations. May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area. Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Keyboarding and computer usage. Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to provide training and to make presentations, communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent lifting and / or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and / or moving up to 25 pounds. Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to use vehicle for the performance of duties. On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activity. Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and / or awareness of personal safety and safety of others. May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information. May be required to physically demonstrate various procedures. May be required to travel occasionally or frequently to training sites.
