Summary
Hybrid working option but must be in the office in Portland Maine based on business needs This position is part of the Community Health Surveillance & Evaluation (CHSE) team within the MaineHealth Center for Health Improvement (CHI).
CHSE turns data into action, to help measure progress towards MaineHealth’s vision of working together so our communities are the healthiest in America.
We compile and distribute summaries of local and statewide health-related data to address health priorities or improvements in our communities.
In addition, we collaborate with programs in CHI, as well as with healthcare teams in the MaineHealth system to provide program / service support with data reporting, analysis and interpretation, applying evidence-based surveillance, evaluation and assessment methods.
Two key programs this position will support are five-year federally-funded grants : Rural Maternity and Obstetrics funded by HRSA and a Zero Suicide Implementation grant funded by SAMHSA.
In addition to the minimum knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, experience accessing and integrating, analyzing and reporting on health data from multiple sources, such as national, regional and state databases, as well as survey and medical record data is preferred.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education : Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred
- License / Certifications : N / A
- Experience : 3 - 5 years experience analyzing data required, in healthcare preferred.
- Ability to work and interact with multiple departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential attributes for this position.
- Intermediate knowledge of and experience with spreadsheet, relational database, graphics and word processing software is required.
Intermediate skills with at least one statistical software package is required, e.g SAS, R, STATA, SPSS.
- Experience in working with large clinical and / or administrative claims databases, including both for management and analysis is desirable.
- Capable of searching and critically appraising medical literature.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience.
- Ability to work independently and self-directed.
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
