Position Summary Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Affairs, the Associate Director, Career Advising and Residency Services, will provide medical students with outstanding career advisement and coaching as they consider medical specialties and apply to and interview for residency programs.

The Associate Director will manage the Coordinator for Residency Services and serve as an expert in the Office of Student Affairs on all questions related to preparing for and applying to Residency.

Applicants must include a cover letter and resume. Responsibilities Serve as an advising resource and coach for medical students exploring clinical and non-clinical career opportunities during their tenure at VP&S.

Serve as the administrative contact and support for Advisory Deans and Residency Advisors in their residency application activities.

Serve as a resource for students participating in the application process (e.g. answers questions about the ERAS system, personal statement writing, CV writing, faculty letter of recommendation requests).

Serve as the primary contact for students regarding the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), San Francisco Matching Program, Urology Match and Military Match.

Creates tokens for students, tracks progress, manages certification, and carefully monitors for errors or issues. Serve as the primary contact for students regarding USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK.

Manages the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) system and all related internal and external processes related to these exams.

Partner with the Student Services Coordinator on Residency Mock Interview Program, Personal Statement Workshops, and Peer Advising programs.

Develop and maintain a residency application / match database and a residency interview offer monitoring program. Support the Associate Dean of Student Career Development?

s D&I class meetings on residency. Manage the VP&S Career Advising Resources (e.g. Residency Guide, Website, Courseworks site) Support Match Week activities, as well as post-match analyses.

Support the Associate Dean for Student Career Development and the Sr. Director of Student Services with any additional ad hoc tasks related to providing the best-in-class career support for students.

Support additional projects within the Office of Student Affairs as assigned. Support special projects for the Office of Medical Education Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?

  • s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four (4) years related experience. Preferred Qualifications Master?
  • s degree preferred. Advanced degree in educational, developmental, or counseling psychology; social work; higher education administration or human resource management.

Experience in medical education and / or career advising environment. Other Requirements Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organization and analytical skills Strong writing and presentation skills Must be able to work under minimal supervision, set priorities and exercise sound judgement.
