Our client, a highly regarded Houston area law firm, seeks a defense litigation associate who possesses a strong desire to try lawsuits, displaysadisciplinedworkethic,andtakesownershipoftasksassignedtothem.
Asalitigationassociate, youwillworkcloselywithpartnersandseniorassociatesonseriouspersonalinjury defenselawsuitsandcomplex commercial litigation matters;
conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, draft discovery requests and responses, review documents and oversee their production, depose (and sometimesprepareotherstodepose)factandexpertwitnesses,participateinstrategysessions,prepare cases for trial, and actively participate in trial.
Responsibilities :
- Assistwithallstagesoflitigation,includingpleadings,motions,discovery,andtrials. Conduct legal research anddraft memoranda and briefs on a variety of legal issues.
- Workcollaborativelywithpartnersandseniorassociatestodevelopandimplementlitigationstrategies. Communicate with clients and opposing counsel in a professional and effective manner.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure that they are completed accurately and on time. Demonstratedisciplineandattentiontodetailinallaspectsofwork,includingtimemanagement, organization, and document review.
- Attendandparticipateindepositions,hearings,andtrialsasneeded.
Requirements :
- JurisDoctordegreefromanaccreditedlawschool with excellent credentials (top 25% of class preferred).
- Admitted to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing.
- Minimumof 2yearsof defense litigation experience, including deposition and courtroom experience.
- Demonstrateddesiretotrylawsuitsandabilitytoworkeffectivelyinateam-orientedenvironment.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Clerkship experience preferred.
