Engineering Manager

Role Purpose : To support Vista by providing engineering resources for product development, sales support, innovation, and production line support that is technically sound and efficient in timing to meet market needs and demands.

Requirements :

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in engineering in a manufacturing environment with a focus on product development
• Electronics industry experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superior computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Engineering design software, and an understanding of ERP systems

• Lead or oversee tactical, project review, and planning meetings
• Ensure staffing resources are appropriate to meet the needs through hiring & onboarding
• Provide technical and professional development and training to ensure each team member is growing in their ability and technical skill
• Provide ongoing coaching and performance appraisal through goals and metrics for each employee
• Plan and coordinate the work of the engineering staff to ensure all work is done on time and in the right priority to meet timelines, due dates, and milestones on all projects and other engineering functions
• Create, implement, and maintain detailed engineering processes and procedures for the engineering staff to use and abide by
• Oversee the management of the engineering lab operations
• Coordinate with IT to ensure the implementation and maintenance of technology needed to support the effectiveness of the engineering team
• Ensure the accuracy of the work in all facets of engineering using review processes and other means to ensure the team meets the quality work goals
• Coordinate with Product Management on the planning of product development projects, engineering changes, and other projects to ensure they meet the business goals of the company
• Ensure the most effective use of supplier engineering resources to support our product development, innovation, and ongoing production needs.
• Provide technical support and review for all work done by the members of the engineering team to ensure best practices are followed.
• Coordinate with any contractors used to complete engineering work on product development projects, engineering changes, or other projects.
• Provide technical support to production and manufacturing engineering to ensure efficiency, technical quality, and continuous improvement in the manufacturing processes.
• Ensure Engineering team communication is handled promptly and effectively
• Participate in product failure issues with the Quality department
• Develop and facilitate professional growth plans for each employee in the Engineering department
• Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for innovative products
• Follow all requirements to support Vista’s Quality Objectives

If deficient in any area of responsibility, appropriate training will be implemented, and successful completion evaluated.
