Medical Assistant, Erie, PA
- Direct Hire as an employee of Company

- Daylight Schedule
- $17.00 - $ 20 .00 per hour as new employee (performance pay raises available, after hire)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Current Medical Assistant Certification required
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Degree Program required
- Experience with the following Medical Assistant functions :
- Injections
- Phlebotomy
- EKGs
- Vitals
- Rooming Patients
- Urinalysis
- Autoclaving / Sterilizing
- Medical Charting
- Assisting staff with medical procedures
- Willingness to work at multiple locations
- Minimum 6 months experience in a medical office setting
- Typing, general computer skills required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities
Responsibilities :
- Answer calls and provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
- Check schedules and organize patient flow.
- Accompany patients to exam / procedure room.
- Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
- Collect patient information / history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
- Relay instructions to patients / families.
- Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Obtain lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
- Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Prepare and manage charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure and assist physicians with procedures.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
- Clean exam / procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Manage inventory of supplies; restock exam / procedure rooms.
- Send / receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance, Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
- Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
