Summary :

RexCore Laboratory is hiring a Medical Lab Tech tojoin their team! The Medical Lab Tech performs beginning level ofpatient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinicalactivities in the UNC Healthcare System.

Schedule : Wednesday - Tuesday, 9pm - 7 : 30am (7 - 10 / hrshifts). This schedule will accommodate seven days on, seven daysoff.

Responsibilities :

1. Instructs patientsin preparing for tests that require fasting. Answers patientquestions regarding the tests.

2. Maintains equipment andinvestigates problems with equipment.

3. May assist inteaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathologyresidents and training of new employees.

4. May monitordaily operation of laboratory section or work area.

5. Mayparticipate on teams or individually perform specialprojects / assignments.

6. Performs a variety of routine andstandardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.Prepares specimens, resolves specimen problems, and performsanalytical tests.

Labels and stores specimens.

7. Preparesreagents and assists in the preparation of standard and controlmaterials. Monitors levels of reagents and assists in maintainingsupplies.

8. Records results of tests and maintainsrecords. Provides test results, reporting deviations from the normto supervisor or ordering physician.

EducationRequirements :

Associate's degree in ClinicalLaboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, ChemicalScience, or BiologicalScience.

Licensure / CertificationRequirements :

If Associate's degree in ClinicalLaboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, then must beASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOCwithin a year.

If Associate's degree in chemical orbiological science, Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT(AMT) Board of Certification (BOC)required.
