The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director of Student-Athlete Development
ROLE of the POSITION
This position reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development.The purpose of this position is to provide additional support to student-athlete development initiatives.
Will be responsible for initiatial review of student-athletes requests and needs. Duties involve delivering and executing programing established by the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development as well as bring in innovative program initiatives and expand upon existing programming related to workshops centered around resume building, networking and interviewing skills, job search techniques, business etiquette, and marketing the student-athlete brand.
This position will support the goal of increasing the number of opportunities in the UNLV Rebels Athlete Network- a database of former UNLV student-athlete alumni and employers who have agreed to offer advice on their particular career field, industry, location ect.
to other UNLV alumni and student-athletes.
Additional focus for this role will include conducting research on six key commitment areas (Career and Graduate Preparation, Leadership Development, Financial Education, Community Service, Personal Development and Alumni Engagement) and serves as the point person for collaborating with University and community partners to coordinate innovative programming opportunities.
Evening and weekend work is sometimes required as well as occasional travel with team.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment.
In addition, the individual will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of one (1) year comparable experience.
In addition, experience in Student-Athlete Support Services or comparable field, preferable at a Division I Institution, is preferred.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
