About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior MEP Project Manager to lead the design, implementation, and management of critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure across our data center portfolio.

As the Senior MEP Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the operational excellence and reliability of mission-critical facilities, overseeing complex technical projects, and driving the continuous improvement of MEP systems to support high-availability data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy : Develop and implement MEP strategies for new builds, expansions, and retrofits across multiple data centers, ensuring alignment with operational goals and industry standards.
  • Design & Engineering Oversight : Lead the design and engineering review of all MEP systems, including power distribution, cooling systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, fire suppression, and plumbing, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Project Management : Oversee large-scale MEP projects from inception to completion. Manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams, while coordinating with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Operational Excellence : Ensure 24 / 7 uptime for all critical infrastructure systems. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance strategies to optimize system performance.
  • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability : Drive initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and support sustainability goals, including meeting or exceeding energy performance benchmarks such as PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness).
  • Compliance & Standards : Ensure all MEP systems comply with local regulations, industry standards, and best practices, including Uptime Institute guidelines, LEED certification, and Tier certifications.
  • Risk Management & Emergency Response : Develop risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans to minimize system failures and ensure quick recovery in the event of outages or critical incidents.
  • Vendor & Contract Management : Manage relationships with key MEP vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure delivery of high-quality services and equipment.
  • Reporting & Analytics : Generate detailed technical reports and performance metrics for data center infrastructure, providing insights into system efficiency, energy usage, and overall MEP performance.

Experience

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced certifications in MEP disciplines is desirable.
  • Travel : Willingness to travel on the east coast up to 70% (2 weeks on site, 1 week remote rotation).
  • Experience : Minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP management, with at least 5 years in a data center or mission-critical environment.

Experience managing large-scale projects and multiple facilities is required.

  • Technical Expertise : Deep knowledge of critical data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling technologies, HVAC, UPS systems, backup generators, fire suppression, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Leadership & Management : Proven track record of leading technical teams and managing complex projects in fast-paced environments.

Strong leadership, team-building, and decision-making skills are essential.

  • Certifications : Relevant certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Center Manager (CDCM), or other recognized data center or MEP certifications are highly preferred.
  • Communication & Collaboration : Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence key stakeholders.

Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, and vendor teams.

Problem Solving : Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex MEP issues, developing innovative solutions, and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
