The Division Lead Dietitian role will provide leadership and support for defined geographic area of dietitians (multiple divisions) and may include a patient case load.
Role will coordinate communication and lead support for Dietitian related goals and quality of care including RPRD oversight, coordinating preceptor program for new hire and on-going training for dietitians.
This teammate drives initiatives for more than one division. Provides expert nutritional services and education to dialysis patients and authorized caregivers.
Collaborate with Group Lead Dietitian to identify areas of focus, monitor divisional performance :
Maintain communication with other Lead Dietitians in the Group
Attend scheduled Group DLRD conference calls, meetings, and trainings
Provide regular status updates on metrics and efforts for outlier management support of pilots, programs and initiatives
Provide process solutions for identified barriers related to priority initiatives
Cascade National team Communication to Local Leadership :
Routinely participate on DVP’s core team and provide SME support for area of nutrition, MBD and dietitian activities o Coordinate reviews of nutrition services-related metrics
Routinely participate on divisional conference calls, may attend live meetings based on need
Collaborate and communicate regarding dietitian related issues to Implement nutrition initiatives with priority on multi-year objectives (MYOs), MBD, Fluid, and IKC related focus to Share awareness of dietitian capacity as related to labor
Collaborate and communicate regarding nutrition related outcomes and processes o Monitor divisional performance for priority initiatives and address outliers, providing coaching and peer reviews for identified performance issues Develop and oversee improvement plans, as needed
Lead the Dietitian Team and serve as a resource for Facility Dietitians, Regional Point Dietitians (and Group Regional Point Dietitians, if applicable) :
Attend DLRD training and National Nutrition Services live / virtual meetings as indicated
Manage MBD (Mineral Bone Disorder) programs including Step-therapy, bundled meds, protocols, Publicly Report Data-MBD component and Korsuva
Establish local Regional Lead team, Motivational Interviewing Mentor and RD Home Champ in partnership.
Provide training, leadership, mentoring, coaching utilizing National Team resources. A
Attend monthly national Dietitian Leadership Team conference calls which serve as the communication link for leadership and dietitians in division.
Conduct conference calls or meetings with Regional Point Dietitians to facilitate team building and champion efforts that improve dietitian practice and nutrition related outcomes
Conduct routine conference calls or meetings (minimum monthly) with dietitians in the division(s) to maintain communication and share National Team recap deck
Oversee and participate in Motivational Interviewing Training program
Maintain current Dietitian Contact Roster and share with Nutrition Services
Demonstrates deep subject matter expertise and leads through influence to enhance division level outcomes and support peers.
Champions change, collaboration, and process improvements
Partner with Facility Administrators (FAs) and Regional Operations Directors (RODS) :
Be a resource on RD clinical ladders
May review resumes of new hire dietitians, virtually participate in interview process and final round of interviews
Utilize defined vacancy coverage process and include FA on facilitation
Identify recruiters and educate on requirements for new hire dietitians
Coordinate Preceptor Program for training of new hire dietitians :
Identify and maintain team of preceptors
Partner with national team to coordinate Dietitian Preceptor training program
Ensure preceptor has all current tools and resources from National team training tool-kit
Ensure preceptors maintain follow up support for new hires
Partner with national team on providing on-going new hire training within first year
Monitor new hire evaluations, follow up with preceptors for any identified concerns
Plan, coordinate and conduct continuing education programs for dietitians :
Dietitian Connection Meetings to Implement agenda established by Nutrition Services to ensure consistent education and communication of Village initiatives and other training
For live or virtual meetings, identify core team to assist with meeting planning and execution
Ensure meeting expenses are within budget and submit meeting expense worksheet to Nutrition Services department
Coordinate local area agendas for meetings conducted by RPRD, attend virtually when possible
Participate in special projects at divisional, group or national level within capacity :
Assign a TM to coordinate dietetic internship contacts and placement in Division
May participate in Nutrition Services Workgroups and special projects to support resource development and process improvement
Bachelors degree in nutrition, dietetics or similar required
State licensure or certification
National RD / RDN Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required as well as functional proficiency with DaVita specific applications within 60 days
2 years of specialized in renal nutrition
Motivational Interviewing training completion
Regional Lead, MI Mentor, Champion, RD home lead, RD Preceptor or other leadership roles
