Required Skills :

We are currently seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team.

As the OR RN Circulator , you will have responsibility for patient safety by designing, coordinating and delivering care to meet the needs of the surgical patient.

• Performs in depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients.
• Formulates collaborative and individualized plan of care and identifies expected patient outcomes, using the nursing process.
• Implements, evaluates and documents patient care interventions and effectiveness in accordance with care plan.
• Prepare for and adapt procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Ensure all documentation and consents are complete prior to surgery.
• Advocate for each patient's safety.
• Follow standard policies and procedures for surgical / procedural interventions, adapting for surgeon and anesthesia provider preference.
• Ready and prepared for daily on time case starts; on time shift arrival and work attendance.
• Demonstrate compassion and caring for patients, their family members and surgical team members.
• Demonstrate knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions and side effects; and knowledge of regional anesthetic techniques and moderate sedation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of location, care and operation of surgical equipment / instruments.
• Demonstrate competence in preparing and cleaning OR suites before and between cases and after terminal cases, based on patient infection classification.
• Position, prepare skin and prevent electrosurgical events during patient care in the operating room.
• Provide postsurgical patient hand-off report to RN in next unit of care.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies in the operating room suite.
• Available to take emergency Call during weekdays and on weekends as assigned.

Required Experience :

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Minimum requirement is an Associate Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum one (1) year previous Operating Room experience required.
• Licensure : Current unrestricted Texas RN license
• Life Support Certification : BLS through the American Heart Association
• CNOR preferred
• Critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
• Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Able to lift, push, pull and stand without difficulty
