PositionSummary :

This dieseltechnician / mechanic position at Penske is focused on providing topservice to our customers who have roadside assistance needs.

Thisposition will be responsible for being able to diagnose and repairall types of maintenance issues on the truck in all weatherconditions in the safest manner on the side of theroad.

Qualified candidates will have prior,demonstrated experience in tractor trailer repair and haveproficiency in the use of all types of repair tools.

Individualsmust be willing to drive a Penske Road Assist vehicle that isoutfitted with tools and supplies.

Major Responsibilities :

• Respond timely to road assist calls and repair units by identifyingand determining : 1) parts requiring replacement, and 2) warrantablerepairs, documented appropriately.
• Performdiagnostics and non-road assist call repairs that can be droppedquickly, as needed.
• Restock rapid assistvehicle with tools, parts, tires, or anything else required toperform an effective road assist.
• Performmaintenance or repairs to road assist vehicle asrequired.
• When not out on road calls, assistwith designated in-shop repairs as directed bysupervisor.
• Other projects and tasks asassigned by supervisor

Qualifications :

• 2-4 yearspractical experience with tractor trailer maintenancerequired
• High school diploma or equivalentrequired
• Vocational / Technical orcertification preferred
• Specialized trainingin the repair and replacement of vehicle componentspreferred
• Proficiency in the use of shoptools required
• Current CDL license with airbrake certification required
• Basic computerskills preferred for data entry into maintenancesystems.
• Ability to work in non-climatecontrolled conditions required
• The associatewill be required to understand and comply with specificinstructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other informationestablished by Penske management
• Theassociate must be able to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA,and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but notlimited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE,machine guarding, and established best safetypractice.
• Regular, predictable, fullattendance is an essential function of the job
• As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles,it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driverqualification file to be maintained as required by the role.

Thedriver qualification file includes : an annual motor vehicle records(MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and SafetyPerformance History records request from prior employers in thelast 3 years.

Additionally, CDL holders will have a DOT DrugScreening within 30 days of start and subject to a FMCSAClearinghouse review.

Willingness to travelas necessary within the district (customers yards, closegeographical area and training sites), work the required schedule,work at the specific location required, complete Penske employmentapplication, submit to a background investigation (to include pastemployment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening arerequired.

This position is regulated by theDepartment of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive bythe company, and the ability to work in a constant state ofalertness and in a safe manner is required.

• The associatemust be able to work safely at heights using applicable ladders andelevated working platforms.
• The associatemust be able to safely work in all weatherconditions.
• Given the frequent movement oflarge trucks through the workplace, the associate must be able tosee and hear in order to safely navigate the workenvironment.
• The associate must be able toregularly lift and / or move up to 50lbs / 23kg and occasionally liftand / or move up to 100lbs / 45kg.
