About the Role :
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to work with our Embedded Core API team. In this role, you will work to build and improve the to enable Embedded partners to quickly build high quality experiences.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and business development, to deliver high-quality APIs and components that enable our partners to build their own Gusto-powered applications.

is our newest business unit, driving the next arc of innovation and growth for Gusto. Our mission is to enable any third party SMB platform to build, sell, and serve payroll, however, they wish.
Our API offering allows other companies to offer payroll services to their customers inside their app or service. By creating a more seamless payroll experience for SMBs, we will bring Gusto’s platform to hundreds of thousands more businesses than those we serve directly.

This is an opportunity to join a team from the ground up and take our business growth to the next level by unlocking product differentiators beyond payroll into HR, benefits, and other people platform features.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day :
- Drive product development of critical projects from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that improve the products of our Embedded partners.
- Work with developer teams at our partners to develop a deep understanding of their needs and how to enable them to bring payroll to their customers as quickly as possible
- Partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, CX, Solution Architects, and other counterparts across Gusto to solve complex cross functional problems
- Identify emerging technologies and industry trends, especially related to developer products (APIs, SDKs, etc.) to push our product experience to the next level
Here’s what we're looking for :
- 5+ years experience in product management with experience building API-first technical products for developers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical products, from concept to launch, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Expertise and passion for working cross-functionally and influencing platform teams within larger orgs
- Analytical mindset and proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with experience using metrics and analytics tools to drive product insights and improvements.
- Experience in Fintech, Payroll, or HR is a plus
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $144,000 to $178,000 / yr in Denver & most major metro locations, and $186,000 to $230,000 / yr for San Francisco, New York, & Seattle.
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role).
The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note : The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
