The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Identity team builds, operates, and innovates the identity, authentication, and authorization stack for the AWS cloud.

Our mission is to push the technical boundaries to enable AWS customers to run their business workloads confidently and securely.

We leverage customer obsession and technologies to help customers set appropriate access controls across all their AWS environments.

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to build solutions on a global scale, own their systems end to end, and influence the direction of technology used by all AWS services worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive mission-critical projects, work with senior and principal engineers, and help mentor junior team members.

AWS has the most services and more features within those services than any other cloud provider from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases to emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things.

Whether it’s Identity features such as access management and sign-on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, or projects like automating our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is always innovating with the customer in mind.

Our team values work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here, which is why we offer a flexible schedule for a more productive and well-balanced life both in and outside of work.

We have a formal mentor search application that helps you find a mentor based on location, job family, and job level. Your manager can also assist in finding a mentor.

In addition to formal mentors, we train together, always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion with ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally.

We offer innovative benefit offerings and host annual learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences.

Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, encouraging team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn, and earn trust.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600 / year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on various factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
