The Role of the Director of Quality
The Director of Quality works in partnership with McDonough District Hospital and Medical Staff leadership providing leadership in the development of a culture of safety, and the measurement of the quality of care identifying opportunities and strategies for performance improvement (PI). Directs the activities related to resource management and utilization for Risk Management, Regulation and Accreditation, Quality, Infection Control and Data Management. Regarding performance improvement activities, will be responsible for the coordination of performance improvement activities, including reporting and documentation of activities through the performance improvement structure. Facilitator for interdisciplinary teams to assist in designing, measuring and assessing performance improvement. Assists the hospital in use of performance improvement data, including core measures to benchmark the hospital’s performance against industry standards and other organizations.
Responsible for the facility’s risk management activities, which include, but not limited to, coordinating general and professional liability insurance policy, managing litigation claims against the facility, interfacing with legal counsels, overseeing the risk program, managing and analyzing risk data, conducting risk educational programs, complying with risk related standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies. Promote the organizational patient safety initiatives and support the organizations mission through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to risk management. Organizes the corporate Compliance Committee which functions as an independent and objective body that reviews, evaluates and addresses compliance issues / concerns within the organization. Assists the Operations Council and colleagues in the organization to uphold rules and regulations of regulatory agencies.
