POSITION SUMMARY
Our Child Life Assistant is responsible for activities in the playroom as instructed by the Child Life Specialist while monitoring the safety of the children as well as providing a child friendly environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a safe environment in the playroom, monitor general health needs in the playroom and ask for assistance from nursing when appropriate;
- provide toys and activities that are appropriate for a wide developmental range of children; take developmentally appropriate toys and activities to individual patients confined to rooms;
and set up the playroom activities, supervise the activities and clean up area.
Provide input to the Child Life Specialist about observed specific needs of individual children; determine when the needs of individual children should be attended to by medical professionals and / or outside the general scope of the role of the Child Life Assistant.
Provide guidance to community groups visiting the playroom(s); supervise volunteers assisting in the playroom; assist with acceptance of donations and materials handling for the department.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At lease 1 year of job-related experience.
EDU CATION
- Required : A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred : Some college coursework in child development.
