Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Beaufort, South Carolina 29902

Healthcare Setting : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Cardiac Stepdown

Employment Type : Locum tenens, travel nursing contract

Contract Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 10 / 22 / 2025 – End : 1 / 21 / 2026)

Nursing Shifts : Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00 – 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1680 - $1730

Patient Ratio : 4 : 1

Electronic Medical Record : Meditech

Weekend Coverage : Required

Floating : May float to similar or lesser acuity units within the hospital

50-mile radius restriction : Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active South Carolina RN license (required at time of submission)

Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac stepdown or PCU nursing experience

Previous travel nursing experience required

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)

Experience managing patient ratios of 4-5 : 1

Preferred experience with Meditech EMR

Ability to float to similar or lesser acuity units

Comfortable with high patient ratios and floating

No background or licensure hits accepted

Locals not accepted (must reside outside 50-mile radius)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the cardiac stepdown unit

Monitor and manage patients with cardiac conditions, including those receiving non-titrating drips (Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene)

Care for patients post-cardiac cath with intervention, vascular procedures, NStemi, CIWA protocol, peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, and home ventilators

Perform wound care, administer nebulizer treatments, and coordinate with the dialysis department for HD

Document patient care using Meditech EMR

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams

Float to other nursing units as needed based on hospital requirements

Participate in weekend coverage and maintain flexibility with scheduling
